The goal keeper is one of the most important players on the soccer field – they are the Last Line of Defence and the first line of attack. To play the position well requires specific skills and training. LLD’s overall mission is to provide training to youth and adult goalkeepers so that they may achieve their highest level of performance in the art of goalkeeping. The combined effors of LLD and the soccer community will assist in the development of top goalkeeping athletes.
LLD’s home training ground will be located at Concordia University College of Alberta, 7128 Ada Boulevard, Edmonton. Concordia, overlooking the beautiful North Saskatchewan River valley, is centrally located and easily accessible. The athletic amenities include a full size outdoor soccer field, a full size indoor gymnasium and a state-of-the-art fitness centre. LLD looks forward to training in all these facilities.
In addition to year-round youth goalkeeper training, the Academy also offers:
- Adult goalkeeper training
- Specialized and guest goalkeeper camps
- Specialized one-on-one goalkeeper training
- Goalkeeping specific fitness and strength program
- Education, i.e., sports psychology, nutrition, equipment, game preparation, etc.
- Video analysis
- Professional sports photography
Tomasz Janas, LLD Executive Director and Head Coach will head the Academy. Mr. Janas has over twenty years of soccer goalkeeping experience. He was a goalkeeper for over ten years, of which five were played semi professionally/professionally; seven years as a goalkeeper coach; and currently holds the position of goalkeeping coach for both the National Training Centre (Prairies) through the Canadian Soccer Association and the Alberta Soccer Association Provincial Training Program.
